Potomac Green is a gated 55+ community in Ashburn, in Loudoun County, Virginia, originally developed by Del Webb. It has 1,363 homes and more than 2,100 residents, and it is pet friendly. Potomac Green is resale only, and it has three kinds of low-maintenance homes. Condominiums run from 890 to 1,662 square feet, all with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, in thirteen four-story buildings with elevators. Single-family homes come in 12 floor plans, with the primary suite on the main floor. Most have two bedrooms, a den and a two-car garage, and many have a second-story loft that adds a third bedroom and bath. Attached villas, in triplexes and quads, run from 1,314 to 1,973 square feet, also with the primary suite on the main floor.
The homes that sell fastest here are usually the ones that back to the treeline instead of backing to other homes. Those are the hot properties. If a quiet, wooded view matters to you, ask about the lot before you fall for a floor plan.
The community center is about 29,000 square feet, and it is where Potomac Green gets together. It has a grand ballroom, a large fitness center that is open every day, an aerobics room, a yoga room, hobby, game and card rooms, and billiards and ping pong tables. There are two pools, one indoors all year and one outdoors in the summer, and an indoor walking track. Outside there are three tennis courts, six pickleball courts, two bocce courts, gardening plots and miles of trails. A full-time lifestyle director plans more than 20 events and activities a month, and the clubs run from morning coffee and bingo to a men’s golf league, writing and yoga.
